Join us in celebrating the National Panchayati Raj Day, on April 24, by sharing and listening in to the civil society’s experiences, practices and perspectives working with the Panchayats to promote community-led governance of local natural resources. Panchayats play a crucial role in promoting inclusive development and participatory democracy. The Constitution of India also empowers them to govern subjects like land improvement, implementation of land reforms, soil conservation, water management, and watershed development. This process has been supported by civil society organisations to improve functioning, build capacity, and promote community-led development.
